  Opening of Direct Branch at Barka

The New India Assurance Company has inaugurated its New Direct Branch at Shop No.1 & 2, Somhan South, Opp. ROP Service Building, Barka on Tuesday the 11th April 2017 to serve the general public in an elegant manner and also to reach to the customers closely. The new Branch office was inaugurated by Mr.Majid Abdul Rahim Jaafer Al Bahrani, the Chairman of Abdul Aziz & Brothers and Majid Group of Companies – the Chief Agent for The New India Assurance Co. Ltd. in Oman in the presence of Dr. K.P. Sebastian, Chief Operating Officer, The New India Assurance Company, Mr.Wilson Raj, Chief Financial Officer and Mr. I.M. Jacob, General Manager Agency Operations. The inaugural ceremony was also witnessed by specially invited guests and the valued customers. In the inaugural address, Mr.Majid Abdul Rahim Jaafer Al Bahrani as the Chairman of the Chief Agency for the New India Assurance Co. Ltd in Oman expressed his gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and to the people of Oman for the support and conveyed best wishes for the new branch office operation. He also expressed his confidence that with the customer friendly attitude, The New India will go further heights in the Oman general insurance market, in the days to come and ensured all support and co-operation. Dr.K.P.Sebastian in his address expressed his gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and the people of Oman for accepting NIA as the preferred insurer of Oman and allowing to be grown as the largest General Insurance companies operating in the country. He reiterated the company’s commitment to provide customer service beyond the industry standards to cater all insurance needs of Omani citizen. He also declared that the New India Assurance Company is in the process of spreading their wings far and wide to reach out the customers of interior areas along with the developing cities. According to the Chief Operating Officer of the New India assurance company, the company has introduced its web portal to enable the Nationals and the expats to take and renew their motor policies online which is New India Oman endeavor to spread out NIA’s wings further more in the Sultanate so as to serve its valued customers and the general public more closely and also to reach out every nook and corner of the Sultanate. The customers can purchase the motor policies through www.newindiaoman.com. As an introductory offer, the online customers can avail 5% discount on premium of every policies purchased and this offer is valid only for a limited period time. The New India Assurance Company has inagurated its Salalah Branch at Athal House, Building No.252, 23rd July Street, Opposite to Bank Muscat, Salalah on Sunday the 11th December 2016 to serve the general public in an elegant manner and also to reach to the customers closely.   Opening of Training Centre

The New India Assurance Company has opened a Training Centre in the Head office of the company at Hamriya on 08.12.2015 to provide training on insurance and allied subject for its employees, sub-agents and various intermediaries. The Training Centre was inaugurated by Ms. Safinaz Safinaz Naseeb AlRaisi, Director, Compliance & Examination Dept., Capital Market Authority, Oman in the presence of Dr. K.P. Sebastian, Chief Operating Officer, NIA Oman, Mr. I.M. Jacob, General Manager, Agency Operations and Mr. Wilson Raj, Chief Financial Officer, Mr.P.Muraleedharan, General Manager (Marketing) and the staff members. In the inaugural speech Ms.Safinaz appreciated the excellent initiative shown by New India Assurance for opening a Training Centre specially for promoting insurance education in Oman. She further ensured that all the necessary support and co-operations will be provided by CMA as a Local Regulator and hope that in future the centre will cater the entire Oman for their all kinds of insurance and allied training requirements. Dr. K.P. Sebastian, Chief Operating Officer, NIA Oman, thanked CMA for providing NIA a reasonable space in the General Insurance market of Oman and also thanked Ms.Safinaz for accepting the invitation as Chief Guest for this auspicious function. Dr. Sebastian in his speech informed the gathering that the opening of a Training Centre in the NIA premises is an initial move towards setting up an affiliate of Insurance Institute of India in the Sultanate of Oman in near future. Dr. Sebastian further emphasized that since insurance is not a part of curriculum in the Sultanate of Oman, by opening of an Insurance Institute in the Sultanate will provide more opportunities to the employees especially to the Omani nationals to have additional qualifications in insurance thereby to attain reasonable insurance knowledge for securing good positions in the insurance industry. He also reiterated that New India Assurance training centre is committed for providing primary insurance education and training to the existing employees and all stakeholders. Dr. Sebastian made it clear that by providing continued training to the existing employees, NIA can serve its valued customers more professionally and ensuring customer service and satisfaction beyond industry standards. He further reaffirmed that NIA is committed to develop general insurance business of Oman by offering insurance products and services of high quality at an affordable price and launching new products to cater the requirements of the public. Dr.Sebastian also thanked His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Sayed and citizens of Oman for their support to The New India Assurance Co.Ltd. since its inception in the Sultanate of Oman in the year 1974.   Opening of direct new branch at The Avenues Mall, Al Khuwair

The New India Assurance Company has opened its Al Khuwair Branch in the “The Avenues Mall” at Lulu Hypermarket, Ghobrah on 27.08.2015 to serve the general public in an elegant manner and also to reach to the customers closely.  The new Branch office was inaugurated by His Excellency Indra Mani Pandey, The Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman in the presence of Dr. K.P. Sebastian, Chief Operating Officer, The New India Assurance Company, Oman Operations, Mr. I.M. Jacob, General Manager, Mr.Wilson Raj, Chief Financial Officer, Abdul Aziz & Brothers and Majid Group Companies.  The inaugural ceremony was also witness by specially invited guests and the valued customers.    In the inaugural address, H.E.   Achieving New Heights in the Sultanate of Oman

The New India Assurance Company has opened its spacious new Motor Underwriting Department in the Head office of the company at Hamriya on 17.06.2015 to serve the general public in an elegant manner with additional counters specially to cater the motor vehicle owners.  The new office area was jointly inaugurated by Mr. Majid Abdul Rahim Jaffer, Chairman, Abdul Aziz & Brothers LLC and Majid Group Companies and Dr. K.P. Sebastian, Chief Operating Officer, The New India Assurance Company, Oman Operations in the presence of Mr. I.M.   NEW INDIA ASSURANCE CONDUCTS SEMINAR ON MONEY LAUNDERING AND TERRORISOM FINANCING REGULATIONS

New India Assurance Company Ltd. Sultanate of Oman has conducted a seminar on Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Act on 23rd October, 2014 at Mumtaz Mahal, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman for Sub-agencies and staff.  Seminar was conducted as a follow up process as per regulatory procedures manual for anti-money laundering for insurance companies, brokers and agents.  The seminar was clubbed with performance review and introduction of Online policies in various classes of business, including the revised Medical Insurance covers.

The seminar was attended by the staff members of sub-agency operations of New India Assurance Company and it is a part of continuous efforts to provide total insight to the dealing staff on the various aspects/provisions of the Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Act.    The Seminar was inaugurated by Mr. K. V .Francis, Chief Operating Officer (COO) in the presences of staff members of New India and the invitees from sub-agencies of New India.

Mr. K.V. Francis in his address briefed that money laundering and terrorism financing crimes are economic crimes that require intensive efforts for combating them in various sectors.   Later there was a detailed deliberation on anti money laundering headed by Mr. Mohamed Al Lawati and Mr. Tawfeeq clubbed with comprehensive presentation on the various provisions of the Act conveying the areas on which the insurance industry has to be vigilant and watchful so as to avoid misuse of the insurance covers by vested parties and groups.

The presentation stressed that the manual circulated by the authorities and under Article (4) of Money Laundry Law promulgated by Royal Decree which stipulates institutions, natural and juristic persons shall verify their customers identity and addresses, pursuant to the instructions issued by the competent supervisory authority before issuance of any type of insurance policies or engaging in any other business dealings.  The message and importance of KYC (Know Your Customer) norms was conveyed to the staff members.

An open session on the above also took place and questions and queries raised by the members present were answered and clarified by the technical members of New India team.

In the above meeting, New India’s has introduced facility of Online Policies of family and health insurance, Travel Insurance, Personal Accident Insurance and Marine Open Cover Insurance for easy and hassle free issuance at Agents’/Brokers’ end.  It was conveyed New India is always in the forefront in technology upgradation, continuously, aiming better customer services. 

A department-wise interactive open session on various aspects were took place and the changes and revisions particularly for health policies and on other online policies were briefed and demonstrated to the participants.

Mr. I.M. Jacob, General Manager, Agency Operations declared the best performers amongst the sub-agencies for the year 2013 - 14 and they were awarded for their business performance.

  Celebration of Delight

New India Assurance Company Ltd. Sultanate of Oman has celebrated its glorious achievements of retaining the No.1 position as the Best Brand among all the insurance companies in Oman in a recent Brand Survey.  The celebrations also co-incited with shifting their Oman Head office operations to their new premises at Hamriya, in a fabulous function held on Sunday, the 7th October, 2012 at Majan Ballroom, Al Bustan Palace Hotel, Muscat in the presence of invited dignitaries and their valued clients/customers. 

The celebration was attended by H.E. Abdullah Bin Salem Al Salmi, Executive President, Capital Market Authority, Sultanate of Oman as the Chief Guest and H.E. J.S.Mukul, Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman as the Guest of Hounour in the presence of Mr.A.R. Sekar, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, and Mr.K.SanathKumar, Director and General Manager Foreign Operations, The New India Assurance Company Ltd.

His Excellency J.S. Mukul complimented and congratulated the entire team of  ‘New India-Oman’ headed by Mr K V Francis, Chief Operating Officer, for the proud achievements made by  the Company in the Sultanate as well as globally.  HE J.S. Mukul also complimented the Company in achieving global premium of Rs. 10,000/- Crores and congratulated the CMD and Director from India for this glorious achievement.   HE J.S. Mukul also expressed in speech that the operational history of New India Assurance in Sultanate of Oman is an exciting story of steady growth, customer satisfaction built on trust and confidence by nationals and vast expatriate community in the Sultanate.  HE J.S. Mukul further emphasized that the contributions made by the expatriate community in the Middle East for the economy and development of India can hardly be overlooked and in that process New India Assurance is also contributing in small and big manner for the welfare and economic stability of the Sultanate of Oman based on the wide perspective of bilateral relations and also observed that New India has always come up to the expectations and aspirations of the nationals, regulatory authorities and the vast expatriate community. 

Mr.A. R. Sekar, Chairman-cum-Managing Director has expressed his sincere thanks to the Regulatory, valued customers and the entire NIA Oman team headed by Mr. K. V. Francis for achieving and maintaining the No.1 position in the insurance category.  He also conveyed his thanks and regards to the Chief Agent for the support and co-operation during the long business association since 1974.   Mr.K. Sanathkumar, Director and General Manager – Foreign Operations also thanked the regulatory authorities, customers, the chief agent and the NIA Oman team for this wonderful achievements.

Mr Majid Abdul Rahim Jaffar the Chairman of Abdul Aziz & Bros LLC, in his thanks giving speech acknowledged the committed services provided by the staff and the organization to the people of the Sultanate of Oman and the development activities of the Sultanate. He further expressed his thanks and gratitude towards the timely support and guidance from NIA Head office in India and also conveyed his regards to Mr.A. R. Sekar, Chairman-cum-Managing Director and Mr.K. Sanathkumar, Director and General Manager – Foreign Operations for gracing the function with their august presence.

Mr. K.V. Francis in his address briefed that NIA a 93 year old company is the largest and financially strong non-life global insurance company and is a pioneer among Indian insurance companies on several counts – to say, insuring the first domestic airline to satellite insurance.  ‘New India’ has been rated “A” (Excellent) by A.M. Best Co., USA for the last nine consecutive years in succession, based on superior capital position, excellent liquidity, strong operating performance and highest solvency margin and recently the rating has been upgraded.  New India has become the first insurance company in India to secure the highest financial strength rating ‘AAA’ from Credit Rating Information Services of India Ltd (CRISIL).  The rating reflects the highest financial strength of the company to meet policy holder’s obligations.  ‘New India’ is also member of the Association of British Insurance (ABI), London Insurance and Re-insurance Market Association (LRMA) and the Institute of London Underwriters (ILU).

The Company has presence in 19 countries spanning 5 continents and has the largest number of specialist and technically qualified personnel at all levels of management who are empowered to underwrite and settle claims of high magnitude.

  “NEW INDIA ASSURANCE” STARTS OPERATIONS IN NEW PREMISES

The New India Assurance Co Ltd (New India Oman), which has been operating in the Sultanate of Oman since 1974, has shifted to a new premises in the capital and the inauguration of new Head Office (for Oman operations) was done by His Excellency J.S. Mukul, Indian Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman on Thursday, 31st May, 2012.  Dignitaries present in the inaugural ceremony include Ms Safinaz Naseeb, Director Auditing & Field Monitoring Department of Capital Market Authority, Mr K.V. Francis, Chief Operating Officer for Oman Operations, Mr Majid Abdul Rahim Jaffar, Chairman of Abdul Aziz & Bros (division of Majid Group) apart from corporate representatives of ‘New India-Oman’s vast   clientele base.

His Excellency J.S. Mukul complimented and congratulated the entire team of ‘New India-Oman’ headed by Mr K V Francis, Chief Operating Officer, for the proud achievements made by  the Company in the Sultanate as well as globally.  HE J.S. Mukul also complimented the Company in achieving global premium of Rs. 10,000/- Crores.  He also appreciated and acknowledged the tailor made policies like ‘COMPAS’, which is very helpful to lower income expatriates working in the Sultanate. 

‘The new premises with a better ambience and modern facilities aim to provide enhanced customer services to the clientele of New India’, said Mr K V Francis.   ‘The construction of new premises started when Dr J Retnakumar was the CEO and Late Mr Abdul Rahim Jaffar, ex-Chairman of  Abdul Aziz & Bros, and completed recently.  At present Mr Majid Abdul Rahim Jaffar is the Chairman of Abdul Aziz & Bros LLC.   In his thanks giving speech Mr Majid acknowledged the committed services provided by the staff and the organization to the people of the Sultanate of Oman and the development activities of the Sultanate.

  NIA’s PICNIC TRIP TO BARKA FARM HOUSE

NIA has conducted one day Pleasure Trip – PICNIC to a Private Farm House in Barka on Friday, the 18th February, 2011. The entire staff members along with their family members and friends have attended to make the picnic a memorable one. In house games and other entertainments were conducted. Inter departmental cricket match was conducted and prices were distributed to the winners. All participants involved actively to make the pleasure trip a grand success and memorable one. It was really a time for fun, frolic and be away from tension and routine activities.

  New India Assurance Employees undergo Skills Development Training

MUSCAT – New India Assurance Company (Oman) organized a unique Employee Engagement and Skills Development Workshop for 55 employees on 30th October at Mumtaz Mahal hotel.

The objective of the pleasingly different workshop was to provide the employees with a deeper awareness of skills and behaviors that could contribute to providing better customer service while also enhancing the ability of team members to work cooperatively and collaboratively as members of the New India Assurance Family more effectively.

“The core values of New India Assurance Company are to maintain highest priority to customer needs and reflect high standards of public conduct”, said Mr. K. V Francis the Resident Manager. “Our employees are fundamental to our success and we are strongly committed to the responsibility of employee development. The management is professionally committed to the principle of performance and we shall make such learning opportunities available to our people in order to encourage them and support their professional as well as personal goals.”

The workshop followed a fun filled, activity based learning methodology. The participants engaged in team exercises that fostered interaction, provided opportunity for learning and exchange, reinforced customer care principles, enhanced trust and encouraged team spirit. Examples of work related scenarios were used to enhance skills in the areas of communication, problem solving, customer service, planning and inter departmental coordination. The workshop was facilitated by Carolann Philips of Hallmark Events and was well received by the participants. Each participant received an award and certificate of participation.

MUSCAT New India Assurance Co Ltd, the Indian multinational insurance giant celebrated their glorious achievements of two prestigious awards recently with their vast clientele, in a glittering function held at Hotel Grand Hyatt, Muscat, on 5th February 2010. The first one is for being the Best Brand among all insurance companies in the Sultanate (No. 1 brand in insurance category) and another one for winning the 9th position in the overall category of ‘Oman’s Greatest Brands 2010 – 2011’.

Dr Shashi Tharoor, the Indian Minister of State of External Affairs was the Chief Guest at the function and HE Anil Wadhwa, India’s Ambassador to the Sultanate was the Guest of Honour. Congratulating the New India Assurance – Oman for its exemplary work and the awards as well as recognition received from the general public, Dr Shashi Tharoor said “it is indeed a proud moment for all of us that the company has been voted as the No. 1 brand among insurance companies and has secured the 9th position among the 130 greatest brands in Oman.” The minister commented that this achievement is even more remarkable considering the fact that these awards had been won by an Indian company from the insurance sector in the face of stiff competition from international recognized global brands.

Mr S K Virmani, Managing Director of BEC Group of companies, who was recently awarded the prestigious Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award by the President of India, was felicitated at the function by New India Assurance Company.

Dr J Retnakumar, Resident Manager of New India Assurance in his speech thanked all the clients and well wishers of New India Assurance Co, and said ‘without all your support and co-operation we would not have been there, where we now stand – as the Best Brand in Insurance’.

Dr Retnakumar introduced Mr K V Francis as the new chief coming in his place. Mr K V Francis, while congratulating Dr Retnakumar for accomplishing the coveted recognition, promised to continue with the good performance of New India – Oman, with his fullest involvement and guidance from the corporate management.
