Celebrations of 100 years of Global Operations
“The New India Assurance”, India’s Premier General Insurance Company was started on 23rd July, 1919 by a Great Visionary and Businessman, Sir Dorab J Tata. On 23rd July, 2019 The New India Assurance has completed its 100 years of Glorious Global Operations. 23rd being Renaissance day, the New Assurance – Oman Operations celebrated it on 24th July, 2019. The proud and august function was held at its Head Office at Al Hamriya, in the presence of specially invited dignitaries; Mr.P.Kannan Nair, Second Secretary, Embassy of India, Muscat, Mr.Naser Ahmed Al Salhi, Director, Evaluation & Risk Management Dept., Capital Market Authority, Ms. Awatif Said, Senior Official from Capital Market Authority, Dr. J. Retnakumar, Ex- COO, The New India Oman Operations, Mr.Bipin Kumar Garg, CEO Bank of Baroda, Mr. Zacharia, GM, Musandam Exchange, Mr.Sudhakar, Sr. Manager, Bank of Boroda and officials from Global Money Exchange.
In his inaugural speech Mr. V.V. Raghavan, Chief Operating Officer Oman Operations briefed about New India’s graph on its operations and the mile stones attained since its inception in the year 1919 and how New India become India’s Premier General Insurer.
Mr.V.V. Raghavan thanked His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Sayed, the Regulator CMA and citizens of Oman for their support to The New India Assurance Co. Ltd. since its inception in the Sultanate of Oman in the year 1974 and for allowing it to grow as the number one Foreign General Insurance Company with reasonable market share among foreign insurers.
Mr.P. Kannan Nair, Second Secretary, Embassy of India, Muscat during his address to the gathering appreciated the excellent service rendered by New India globally. He has also expressed his thanks and gratitude on behalf of Indian community to New India for its presence in the Sultanate for the last 45 years and also being one of the best service industries of Indian origin.
Mr.Naser Ahmed Al Salhi appreciated the excellent business culture, ethics and performance shown by New India Assurance during their operations in the Sultanate. He also congratulated M/s. Abdul Aziz & Brothers LLC and Majid Group Companies for taking an initiative in 1974 for bringing the Global Giant into Oman Soil.
Dr.J. Retnakumar, Ex-COO New India Oman Operations briefed the progress of the company since its inception and appreciated the efforts shown by Mr.Abdul Rahim Jaffer, promoter Chairman of the chief agent, M/s.Abdul Aziz & Bros. LLC for bringing the global giant to the Sultanate. He has also expressed his gratitude towards the support and assistance New India is getting from the present Chairman, Mr.Majid Abdul Rahim Jaffar to deliver best services parameters in the Oman General Insurance Market much beyond the industry standards. He also said that the company offered a wide range of general insurance covers and has been a major player in insurance sector in the global insurance market. Having boldly ventured into foreign lands, establishing operations in London, the world reinsurance hub in 1920. The company has presence in 28 countries including in the Sultanate of Oman.
Mr. Raghavan said that completing 100 years of operations is a memorable and proud milestone for any organization and congratulated each and every individual associated with the company for its growth and business performance over the past 10 decades. He has also expressed his gratitude towards the support and guidance received from the government, Corporate and general public.
Mr. I. M. Jacob, General Manager thanked His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Sayed and citizens of Oman for their support to The New India Assurance Co. Ltd. and also thanked Mr.Majid Abdul Rahim Jaffer, Chairman, M/s. Abdul Aziz & Brothers LLC and Majid Group Companies, the business partner of The New India Assurance in the Sultanate of Oman.
